Last time I played Diablo 3, I played for 2 weeks until I finished my Season Conquest and wrapped it up. All these make for an very appealing game to play, but not a lot of incentive to stay after you get one or two builds online. It's very easy to target farm for what you want/need. Drops are catered to your class and are given freely. You can respec whenever you want with virtually no penalty. To be clear, I have maybe 1000 hours in Diablo 3 since release 2100+ hours in Path of Exile and, have been playing Diablo 2 since it's release in 2000 (literally spent entire summers doing Meph and Baal runs all night).ĭiablo 3 is very casual friendly. While D3 and D2 are in the same franchise they are two pretty different takes on the genre and you won't know which you prefer until you play them both.This is a bit in-depth and is my personal opinion. D3's reputation to a certain extent still hasn't recovered to this day.įWIW, I prefer D3 way more than D2 simply because the combat feels so much more satisfying. The patch that implemented loot 2.0 and removed the auction house along with the Reaper of Souls expac coming out saved D3 from being an incredibly boring, ho hum, failure of an ARPG to something that is legitimately fun to play in spite of its faults. D3's launch was awful and the real money auction house was awful (no matter what people memberberrying about it say these days). It's a great game but controversial though for sure which is reflected by it's user score. I don't think it's dumbed down, it's different. A lot of freedom and experimentation in D3's system.
I prefer D3's system, it's a lot of fun experimenting with a new class for the first time and seeing what the new abilities are and how the runes change them and how your gameplay changes from there. The rune will change how its respective ability functions.
These runes are unlike D2, they are built into the ability UI and you unlock different runes as you level as well. Skill trees are no longer a thing, your abilities are unlocked as you level automatically along with different runes. To answer your questions: the game is easy at it's easiest difficult but it has multiple difficulties so choose the difficulty that feels right for you.
